ABSTRACT
The present work aims to prepare a novel class of nanofluid phase change materials (NFPCMs) by dispersing multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in water with sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) as the surfactant. The NFPCMs were prepared by dispersing the MWCNTs with volume fractions of 0.15, 0.3, 0.45, and 0.6 in water. The measured thermal conductivity data showed that the enhancement in thermal conductivity increased with MWCNT concentration. The rheology measurements showed a shear thinning behavior in the shear stress range of 3 to 9 N m−2. Differential scanning calorimetric analysis illustrated an appreciable reduction in supercooling with the addition of MWCNTs in water.
