Interventions for Maltreated Children to Reduce Their Likelihood of Engaging in Juvenile Delinquency

Pages 285-297 | Published online: 15 Jun 2010

Abstract

Maltreated children are at higher risk than other children for engaging in delinquency, particularly children whose maltreatment has been severe or chronic. In this article we describe a variety of interventions that may be useful to reduce these children's risk for engaging in delinquency. To be most effective, interventions should be wide-ranging and should focus on several levels, including the individual level, the family level, and the community level.
