  • The production of electricity is the direct responsibility of the Electricity Division of the Ministry of Energy without the intervention of any other organisation. By s.11(1) of the Electricity Act 1968 the Minister of Energy (acting through this Division of the Ministry) is specifically empowered, on behalf of the Crown, to acquire, construct, operate and maintain, works for the generation of electricity, and generally to carry on the business in all its branches of the supply and sale of electricity.
