  • At one stage the government proposed to acquire the power to approve the members of the SEP Council of Commissioners. The power of approval has since been restricted to the approval of the Chairman. Apparently, the industry was concerned that the Minister might seek to influence rules of operation of the co-operation agreement between the SEP and its members.
