Journal overview

This title has ceased (2008).
The Women’s Oncology Review is a quarterly journal that focuses on those scientific and clinical advances that impact on the care and management of women with cancer, including both breast and gynecologic malignancies.

As there are hundreds of journals that contain articles relevant to issues in women’s oncology, for the busy clinician it can be difficult and time-consuming to assess what is important - especially when articles fall outside the reader’s own specialty. The Women’s Oncology Review is designed to solve this problem by allowing the reader to remain up to date with published research across the disciplines in an organized and efficient manner. The journal will guide readers through the pluralism, fragmentation and variety of the oncology and gynecology literature to the information that has true and enduring value.

In each issue, the multidisciplinary team of Editors selects 40-50 of the most important international studies published within the previous three-month period. Each of these studies is summarized, evaluated with a short, easy-to-read critical commentary, and placed in context with other research by a suggested list of further reading. In this way readers can rapidly access the cutting edge of research in a way that positively contributes to their understanding of its significance and contributes towards improvements in clinical practice.

The team of reviewers has been selected from among leading experts in the specialities of gynaecologic oncology, clinical oncology, radiation oncology, breast cancer, oncologic surgery, and basic sciences to provide across-the-board coverage of women’s oncology. With the ever-expanding focus of cancer in the population, this important journal is an indispensable aid for any clinician involved in the care of women with cancer.

Whilst the critical commentaries form the essential feature of the journal, each issue also contains two or three of in-depth reviews of major topics to provide a valuable perspective for clinicians.
