The Symposium editorial board is pleased to announce the annual Harold G. Jones Award for Best Essay in the amount of $1500.

All essays published in each volume year will considered for the prize.

In 2015, the awards were categorised as follows:

  • Best Graduate Student Essay: Sonja Stojanovic, 'Marie Darrieussecq’s Ghost'

  • Best Junior Scholar Essay: Lauren Brown, 'Spatial Identities and Glissantian Detour: Narrative Strategies in Maryse Condé's Traversée de la mangrove'

  • Best Senior School Essay: Maria DiFrancesco, 'Facing the Specter of Immigration in Biutiful'.
