Journal overview

The most important function of a sport sociological journal like the European Journal for Sport and Society (EJSS) is to enable an international discussion about current socio-cultural and sociological issues in sport, and to foster collaboration between researchers from the sociology of sport and related academic sub-disciplines.

The EJSS is therefore a platform for multi-thematic reflections from a broad variety of topic areas, using a wide range of theoretical approaches and empirical methods. The EJSS is open for articles which focus particularly upon sport, physical education, and exercise. However, papers that focus upon recreation, and/ or upon embodied movement cultures are also welcome. The journal welcomes sociological approaches to understanding sport, as well as papers from socio-psychological, political and economic perspectives that emphasize the socio-cultural significance of sport in all its guises.
