Special Issues and Dossiers
The Journal is keen on publishing dossiers and special issues dedicated to current topics or innovative lines of research and theoretical reflection in the field (see ‘Aims and scope’ for subject areas and approaches covered).
Special issues: Special issues feature 6-8 articles of standard length. The guest editor is in charge of preparing a special issue proposal or, when relevant, a call for papers and selecting abstracts from those received in response to the call. The guest editor submits this proposal document to the Editorial Board with the list of selected abstracts. Once the guest editor receives feedback from the Editorial Board and addresses it, they set a deadline to receive article manuscripts. The guest editor then reviews each manuscript, which they return to the author with feedback. Once the guest editor has received the revised versions and reviewed and approved them, they send these versions to the Journal through Manuscript Central, where they will be evaluated internally or sent out to external review. The journal reserves the right to reject any article manuscript.
Dossiers: Dossiers feature 3-5 articles of standard length and follow the same protocol as special issues.
In both cases, guest-editors should ensure that submitted article manuscripts are as close as possible to finished. The Journal also reserves the right to accept submissions as individual pieces.
Proposals for dossiers and special issues should be submitted by email to the Managing Editor ( [email protected]) comprising:
- a title and list of keywords;
- a short rationale outlining the topic, its importance within the field of Latin American cultural studies as well as within current debates in critical theory;
- a list of contributors, including their academic affiliations;
- working titles and abstracts of the individual contributions.
The Journal does not publish book reviews in each issue. To foreground recent trends in the field, we usually publish a set of review articles once a year.
