Special Issue Proposals

South European Society and Politics welcomes proposals for special issues at any time. Proposals should be submitted at least one year before proposed publication. Special issue articles are subject to double blind peer review, with reviewers chosen by the Editors of the Journal. An invitation to prepare a special issue submission does not constitute a guarantee of publication of either the special issue, or of individual articles therein. Decisions on publication are based on peer review.

Special issue proposals must include a working title and the names and affiliations of the guest editors, along with a description of their experience in managing edited/cooperative work and research expertise. Proposals should include a description of the special issue rationale, its contributions to the scientific literature, its innovative nature, and its potential interest to the Journal’s readership.

Additionally, proposals must include the abstracts of all proposed articles, which clearly state how they contribute to the special issue rationale. Provide short biographical notes about the contributors that include affiliations and research expertise.

Finally, all proposals must include a timetable, which specifies milestones (past and future), such as conferences or workshops, and the date by which the special issue would be submitted.

Journal special issues normally contain no fewer than five articles.

SESP values special issue proposals that bring together a diverse set of scholars.

Upon request, the Editors can provide information about the expectations for special issue editors.

Questions and special issue proposals should be submitted directly to the Journal Editors via email:
