Welcome to the inaugural issue of Complex Metals!

The start of 2014 heralds an exciting time for Complex Metals. We congratulate all our authors on their excellent new publications and thank them for choosing Complex Metals to publish their research.

As Editors, we are excited to share with you, future authors and readers, our vision for Complex Metals and what you can expect from the team in the future.

Open access

Complex Metals is open access making all published papers available free of charge to whoever wants them thereby ensuring the widest possible dissemination of your work. This is central to what Complex Metals is all about and aims to provide new, insightful and exciting research to all members of the scientific community. This is only currently possible through an article publication charge but we have worked hard to make this both competitive and affordable, wherever you are in the world.

High quality

At Complex Metals our commitment to high quality rivals our dedication to access. As a journal published by Taylor & Francis, a well-recognised scientific publisher, we will ensure that all papers submitted to the journal are rigorously reviewed before acceptance. The quality of the journal is reflected in our Editorial Board who are all leaders in their respective fields and provide the journal with a strong international presence. Rest assured that if you choose Complex Metals for your next submission, your work will have impact.

Diversity

One of the things that separates Complex Metals from other journals in the field is its diversity. Research within and across the traditional fields of coordination, organometallic and materials chemistry all fall within the scope of the journal, reflecting the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of research today. Our readers can look forward to high quality papers spanning d-block, f-block and main group chemistry, representing the true richness of inorganic chemistry. We also aim to promote diversity in the types of articles the journal seeks to publish: communications for urgent new findings, articles for more in depth studies and reviews for critical and informative discussion of the latest research in a specific area of chemistry. The reviews will in most cases be invited submissions by the Editors or a member of the Editorial board. However, authors can also contact the Editors directly with a proposal for a review topic that they feel will be of significant interest to the readership of the journal.

Rapid publication

As researchers ourselves, we understand how important it is get your research published quickly. The journal aims to make a decision on all papers within four weeks of submission. To further speed up the publication process Complex Metals will publish fully paginated papers as soon as they have been approved by the authors with issues built online in a successive fashion ending the considerable waiting period associated with other journals. To aid this rapid publication process authors are encouraged to read the authors’ instructions on the journal's website (www.tandfonline.com/tcme). Finally, we take this opportunity to thank the reviewers who have taken time out of their busy schedules to review for the journal, and who, together with our dedicated Editorial Board and contributors, are helping to make Complex Metals a success.
