Volume 43 Issue 4 of the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management

Issue 4 of Volume 43 includes three manuscripts. First, Olson and colleagues provide a description of an approach to occupational health entitled Total Worker Health®, which was developed by the United States National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The authors describe how this approach underscores safety at work, as well as at home and in the community. They also explain that Total Worker Health® is consistent with behavior analytic and systems analysis approaches to organizational behavior. Finally, this paper also illustrates some opportunities for collaboration between researchers and practitioners in organizational behavior management (OBM) and those developing this unique approach to safety.

Next, Ferguson et al. evaluate social comparison feedback to improve the performance of facility maintenance tasks by three low-performing employees at a clinic serving children with autism spectrum disorder. The researchers used both verbal and graphic social comparison feedback and also measured the social validity of the intervention. The results, and the social validity results in particular, are very interesting given the concerns that sometimes arise with the use of social comparison feedback.

Finally, Guercio and Hunyadi describe an evaluation of the Performance Diagnostic Checklist – Human Services (PDC-HS) to improve the accuracy of data collection among staff members working in three group homes serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Assessment-based interventions are becoming more common in performance management, and this study illustrates the use of one in a human service setting. Readers working in human service fields will be particularly interested in this manuscript.

I also would like to remind everyone that JOBM is now available to all Board Certified Behavior Analysts®! Certificants can access the journal by logging in to their BACB® account and selecting the “Resources” tab. All issues of JOBM are available. I would like to thank our publisher, Taylor and Francis, and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board® for making this possible. As always, please send me any suggestions and feedback you may have regarding journal policies and practices. Electronic messages should be sent to [email protected].
