Abstract

Wellness practitioners are pivotal in supporting substance use disorder recovery in the workplace. Yet, they often work in environments with limited policy direction or legislative guidance to direct this work. A qualitative investigation sought to explore the perceptions and experiences of South African practitioners working in contexts with limited regulatory direction. The findings, presented as three themes, highlight both enabling and impeding factors. A central recommendation is to promote collaboration with other significant role players to enhance the recovery process in the workplace through supervisory involvement as well as that of the family.
