ABSTRACT

To investigate the food environment and availability of foods in establishments in areas with and without Food and Nutrition Public Establishments (FNPE). The availability, variety and promotion of foods that compose Healthy Food Store Index (HFSI) were compared between establishments in both areas. The availability and variety of fruits and vegetables mean were higher among FNPE. The availability of ultra-processed foods was higher in convenience stores/bakeries. HFSI did not differ between areas. The fact that the index of availability of healthy foods did not differ between areas reflected the low impact of FNPE on food marketing dynamics.
