The European Journal of Engineering Education Best Paper Award was founded in 2023. The criteria for the award are usefulness and scholarliness. See Aims and Scope for details.

The journal announces the award at the Annual SEFI conference, held in September. Papers published in the previous year's volume are eligible for the award. The selection committee consists of the Editor-in-Chief and the Deputy Editors. Their own work is not eligible.

We are pleased to announce the winner of the Best Paper Award in European Journal of Engineering Education volume 47:

Kacey Beddoes (2022) Gender as structure in the organisational socialisation of newcomer civil engineers, European Journal of Engineering Education, 47:1, 102-116, DOI: 10.1080/03043797.2021.1915251

Motivation: In this paper, Dr Kacey Beddoes takes a gender perspective on the socialisation of new engineers in the workplace, and addresses issues of power and privilege. The study is superbly conceptualised and contextualised in literature. Dr Beddoes demonstrates skilful application of a qualitative approach and methodology, vividly conveying the experiences of new engineers. It is a joy to read.

The paper will be openly available to all readers throughout 2024.
