Race, Educational Psychology, and Educational Psychologist
This collection seeks to highlight prior work published in Educational Psychologist focused on race, racism, racial justice, and equity. The commentary, written by Drs. Revathy Kumar and Jessica DeCuir-Gunby, provides a critical review and analysis of prior work published in Educational Psychologist, highlighting four major themes: the evolving conceptualization of race, ethnicity, and culture; psychological processes; cultural, contextual, and structural factors; and methodology; and then discussing what can be done to more effectively address these issues in the future. Many articles previously published in Educational Psychologist from 1963 to 2022 that substantively addressed race, ethnicity, and race-related issues such as culture, racial/ethnic and cultural identity, minority status, equity, and social justice are included in this collection and are reviewed in the commentary.
