This journal has ceased (2018).

The Astronomical Review is an international, scientific, peer-reviewed journal publishing authoritative review articles in all fields of astronomy.

Its scope encompasses advances in astrophysics, astrobiology, and astrochemistry, as well as cosmology, high energy phenomena, and all related technical and computational fields.

We aim to advance the field of astronomy by providing free and open access to high-quality reviews from reliable sources. Each quarterly issue includes only papers of exceptional quality that have gone through our rigorous peer-review process.

Subjects Covered:
  • Solar Physics (including the structure and evolution of the Sun, its corona, the solar wind, helioseismology, solar neutrinos, solar-terrestrial physics, etc.)
  • Solar system (including its structure and formation, planetary atmospheres, surfaces and interiors, moons, asteroids, comets, meteorites, etc.)
  • Exoplanets (including their detection and characterisation, planet formation and dynamics, habitability, and astrobiology, etc.)
  • Stars (including their formation, structure and evolution, stellar multiplicity, stellar pulsations, star clusters, populations, etc.)
  • High energy phenomena (including cataclysmic variables, X-ray binaries, white dwarfs, neutron stars, black holes, active galactic nuclei, quasars, cosmic rays, supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, etc.)
  • Galaxies & the local Universe (including the structure, formation and dynamics of the Milky Way and other galaxies, the interstellar medium and astrochemistry, molecular clouds and dust, etc.)
  • Cosmology & the distant Universe (including the early universe, inflation, the cosmic microwave background, cosmological parameters, the distance scale, groups, clusters, gravitational lensing, dark energy, dark matter, etc.)
  • Instrumentation (including detector, instrument and telescope design, laboratory experiments, etc.)
  • Computational modelling (including simulations and numerical methods, etc.)
  • Astronomical software (including software, databases, codes, etc.

To cover the cost of Open Access publishing, Astronomical Review charges an article publishing charge for all accepted articles. The article publishing charge for Astronomical Review is $750 USD / £575 GBP / €665 EUR.
