Special issue information

We are happy to receive proposals for Special Issues on topics relevant to our Aims and Scope. Guidance for editors on special issues is below. We encourage proposers to consider these before submitting proposals.

Editors of potential Special Issues should send a completed proposal form to [email protected].

Guidance for Special Issue Proposals for IJAS:

1. Frequency: IJAS limits itself to one special issue per year. At present, we are accepting proposals for issues to appear in print in 2016.

2. Content: Papers must adhere to IJAS's aims and scope, and each special issue will consist of 6-7 papers (or a total of about 50,000 words) and an editorial. Proposers may wish to have more than 7 papers, in which case a publication fee is to be negotiated with the publishers, Taylor & Francis.

3. Quality: Decisions on proposals are at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief, and are made on the basis of the proposal's topicality, originality and quality.

4. Review: If papers have to be rejected following recommendations of referees, then they cannot be published in a special issue. The Editor-in-Chief has the final decision on whether papers are acceptable for publication; if a large proportion of a special issue fails on quality, then the whole special issue may be cancelled, and the best papers entered for normal publication. Thus we are unable to make absolute commitments to the authors commissioned to write for a special issue.

5. Open Access: We welcome proposals to make special issues Open Access; this will involve a fee to be negotiated with Taylor & Francis.

We welcome queries on these points. Please write to [email protected].
